Does Santa Have A Bad Back?

If he doesn’t now, he probably will in the future unless he starts eating better and exercising. Excess weight causes back problems: your “spare tire” or “pot belly” in the front, might be causing pain in the back. The excess weight of the stomach puts additional stress on the spine, discs and muscles. Also, the weakened abdominal muscles offer no support to the torso or lower back. Some studies show, ten extra pounds on your abdomen adds 100 extra pounds of pressure on your back.

Where to Start

Remember, a healthy lifestyle is not a fad diet for 2 weeks. It is a lifelong commitment including a sensible diet and exercise. You need to aim for a reasonable weight for your age, sex, height, body type and activity level. Moderation is key-you can consume fats and sugars-just be careful of the amount you consume. Drink a lot of water, cut back on fats, red meat and simple carbohydrates, portion control and add regular exercise.
